Average pest and disease resistance
Pelargoniums can be susceptible to certain pests and diseases, including grey mould, rust, thrips, vine weevil larvae damage, leafhopper, and whitefly.
Water moderately
Pelargoniums don't require a huge amount of watering, so water only in moderation during spring and summer, and sparingly in winter.
Full sun to partial shade
Pelargoniums are best suited to sunny spots, with a minimum of 6 hours of direct sunlight per day.
Fertile, moist, well-drained soil
Plant your pelargonium in fertile, neutral or alkaline soil that's free-draining, as they don't like to have their roots become soggy or waterlogged.
Feed regularly
In spring, use a liquid fertiliser on your pelargonium every two weeks. When flowers develop, switch to a fertiliser with a higher potassium content, and continue feeding every 14 days throughout summer.
