Care Guide

Good Pest/Disease Resistance
Runner Beans can be susceptible to attacks from slugs and aphids which are more of an issue during different parts of the plant's life. Initially, when the plant is still a seedling, slugs are the biggest threat and you should try to prevent their attacks by keeping the ground clear of any debris and as dry as possible at night. As the plant grows older it may encounter problems with aphids. The best defense against aphids is to wash your plant down with soapy water targeting infested areas.

Water Regularly
Full Sun in a Sheltered Position

Full Sun in a Sheltered Postion
Runner Beans need 6-8 hours of direct sunlight every day. Best grown in a sheltered position to protect against cold, chilling winds.

Fertile, Well-draining
A good-mix to use is three parts quality compost to one part topsoil.

Feed Regularly
Once the flowers emerge feed the plants with a high-potash fertiliser such as liquid tomato feed. https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0513/3428/3424/files/pruning_3x_4d3eaf73-f629-45e0-87a5-6f14f5f005fc.png
