The highlights
- Shimmering white peeling bark
- Fresh green foliage with yellow catkins in spring
- Plant as a feature in a large lawn or in groups
- Attracts birds, bees and butterflies to your garden
Description
- The Himalayan Birch Tree will bring winter wonder to your garden with its snowy white, exfoliating bark. Every year a layer of the shimmering bark peels off to reveal a fresh layer underneath
- Fresh, yellow-green foliage with male (yellow) and female (green) catkins appearing in June to attract pollinators to your garden
- The female catkins are followed by cone like fruits with winged seeds which are carried on the wind and can travel for hundreds of miles!
- Colour all year round: in autumn the foliage turns to a striking golden yellow before it falls, leaving the elegant architectural white branches to form the backbone of your winter garden
- A large, fast growing deciduous tree which can grow up to 18m depending on conditions
- Slender Himalayan Birch makes an ideal feature tree in a lawn and also works well planted in small clusters of three or more (plant 1-2m apart)
- The bark of Himalayan Birch was traditionally used for writing Sanskrit texts and scriptures, especially in Kashmir, and is still used for scared mantras
- Our potted trees are supplied in EcoPots™.
- Our trees are usually between 18 and 36 months old at the time of dispatch.
- Our trees are professionally pruned before dispatching.

How To Grow
High Pest/Disease resistance
Generally pest and disease resistantMORE
Position in full sun to partial shade
This tree is adaptable and generally tolerant of exposed and windy sites, dry or wet conditions and even waterlogging
Grow in well drained soil
Himalayan Birch will grow in low to moderately fertile soil that is moist but well drained
Prune Annually
Any pruning should be done when the tree is fully dormant, from late summer until early winter. If you prune in late winter or early spring when the sap is 'rising' this can cause heaving bleeding of sap and weaken or even kill the tree

Excellent delivery and service
Well, the delivery was spot on, the tree looks healthy enough for a sleeping plant, although at the moment most of the branches are on one side of the trunk which in itself is bent banana-style. quite wonky. One can only hope that it grows into a fruitful plant with some character?

Nice sized tree in good condition
Time will tell on the quality of the product (bare-root apple trees), but the stems that arrived seemed in great condition and very well packaged so no damage in transit. Looking forward to Spring!

Lovely tree
So happy with my purchase of my Braeburn Hillwell apple tree from Roots Plants. It arrived promptly, well packaged and in a good, healthy condition. I soaked it for an hour before planting and it's doing well. Looking forward to our home grown apples, in time.

It has picked up now and is growing well
It arrived in a heat wave and looked a little bit sorry for itself when planted out but it has picked up now and is growing well.

Good service all round
Arrived on time as the seller said it would and the courier gave me a time slot to track my parcel. It came well packaged and was of good quality for this time of year. It looks a good and healthy tree and will be planted up in a few weeks after the ground has been prepared. I’m pleased with my purchase.
