Description
- A highly reliable outdoor ridge cucumber variety, 'Burpless Tasty Green' produces cool, refreshing and non-bitter fruit, with each cucumber measuring up to 25cm in length
- Use these vitamin-packed cucumbers in fresh salads, sandwiches or as a standalone crunchy snack. And, of course, if you're partial to a G&T, then ice and a slice wouldn't go amiss, either...
- Grow outdoors in a sheltered, sunny spot, or in a greenhouse or polytunnel - use a trellis or canes to support your plant
- Now, we'll be the first to admit we're perhaps not the biggest fans of the 'Burpless' title when it comes to naming a vegetable, but there's a good reason for it. These cucumbers have lower concentrations of 'cucurbitacin' than other cucumber varieties. If you've ever experienced bloating or digestive problems after eating cucumbers, then this natural chemical is likely the culprit. Want an easy fix? Go burpless!

How To Grow
Good pest and disease resistance
The most common cucumber pests and diseases are whitefly, cucumber mosaic virus, aphids, powdery mildew and squash anthracnose. The best protection against these is to try and prevent too much humidity on the leaves by watering in the morning and preventing splashing from the soil to the leaves. Also, planting companion plants such as marigolds will attract predators such as ladybirds and hoverflies which will eat the pests.
Water regularly
Water your cucumber plant regularly so that the soil is kept moist. On hot, summer days, this may mean watering once per day. If the soil becomes too dry, too regularly, this will stunt the growth of cucumbers and cause them to taste bitter.
Full sun
Cucumber plants need a spot with full sun. Position them where they will receive 8-6 hours of sunlight a day.
Any fertile, moist, well-draining soil
This cucumber plant likes fertile soil that drains well but retains some moisture. It also prefers slightly acidic soil.
Feed regularly
After the first flowers bloom, start feeding the cucumber plant every week. Use a fertiliser high in potash, such as liquid tomato feed or organic chicken manure pellets.

When will I get my plants?
The delivery timescale for each plant is on the web page (near the 'add to basket's button). You'll receive a dispatch email with an exact delivery date once your plants are on their way, so you can get the garden ready.

Where do you deliver?
We deliver to anywhere in Mainland UK for our standard delivery cost. We are able to deliver most plants to Highlands and non UK mainland however this will be at an additional cost. This will be calculated at the checkout. Please note, deliveries to these locations will take longer. Unfortunately, we are not able to deliver to Northern Ireland at present.

Excellent delivery and service
Well, the delivery was spot on, the tree looks healthy enough for a sleeping plant, although at the moment most of the branches are on one side of the trunk which in itself is bent banana-style. quite wonky. One can only hope that it grows into a fruitful plant with some character?

Nice sized tree in good condition
Time will tell on the quality of the product (bare-root apple trees), but the stems that arrived seemed in great condition and very well packaged so no damage in transit. Looking forward to Spring!
