Care Guide
Good pest and disease resistance
Sweet peas don't tend to have serious problems with disease, but need to be planted with adequate spacing to avoid powdery mildew. Watch out for aphids, (spray the plants with soapy water if you see any) slugs and snails (make a barrier of copper wire, gravel, bark chips or crushed eggshells around your plants if slugs are a problem).
Water regularly
Keep your plants well watered, especially in hot or dry weather.
Full sun
Plant in a warm, sheltered spot where your plants will get at least six hours of sunlight daily.
Any fertile, well-draining soil
Thrives in any well-drained soil. If your soil is particularly clay-heavy and/or often becomes waterlogged then you can improve the drainage by adding in plenty of organic matter such as garden compost as well as some perlite or gravel.
Feed every two weeks
Give your plants a general purpose liquid feed every two weeks during the flowering season.
