Excellent pest and disease resistance
Generally suffer no issues with pests or diseases when grown outdoors, apart from occasional issues with leaf miners and crown gall.
Water moderately to regularly
Water the plants to keep the soil consistently moist. During hot spells this means watering the plants at least once a day. For plants in hanging baskets, you may need to water twice a day if they look dry.
Full sun
For the best results, plant in a sheltered spot where your plant will receive around 6-8 hours of sunlight daily in spring/summer.
Moderately fertile, moist, well-drained soil
Suitable soil types include loamy and sandy with a neutral to slightly acidic pH - the most important thing, though, is that it's well draining.
Feed regularly
Feed every fortnight with a general, all purpose fertiliser that's high in potash.
